Gabor Breznay

Born in 1956 in Budapest, Gabor Breznay was a French-Hungarian painter and visual artist. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in the late 1970s in Albert Zavaro’s studio. His pictorial work is marked by several major periods. The expressionist works of the 70s and 80s incorporate the notion of passage—between two spaces, between transparency and fullness, between flatness and relief. These works explore the movement of bodies and their positioning in space through the integration of varied materials. The 90s saw a shift toward greater realism, with collages and détournements, exemplified by his Georges de La Tour series, where historical figures are transposed into contemporary settings. By the late 20th century, he flirted with Pop Art and Pixel Art before embarking on a more graphic and poetic exploration in ink and watercolor, focusing on themes of human destiny and Nature.

"I see the world without limits or borders. My approach leads me to reflect on time and space, on the present and the timeless... mirroring our ever-changing world."
